History

Barele was born to a sizeable family. They owned a small and humble shipyard, on which Barele worked when he came of age. As a result of having loads of siblings and Elisteos not being renowned for having a great shipyard, the family struggled often to feed each other, and with Bari being the youngest son, he was often given the least food. This resulted in him being isolated and frowned upon growing up alongside his family. As a result, Barele would often spend time in nature, where he learned how to scavenge for food, and build shelters whenever he'd get lost. He was Infected early in his life, which allowed him to feel more at home in the woods, where we was more nimble and productive as he worked on various projects. He eventually met Shahee as a child. Shahee took great interest and pride in Barele's skill as a craftsmen, and the two would indulge in their hopes and dreams quite often. Feeling inspired by Shahee's appreciation of his passion, he constructed the Abandoned Wooden Village as a place for the both of them to seek refuge from the struggles at home and where they could play and escape from reality together. Shahee would suddenly disappear from his life, however. It was during this time he followed Shahee's advice to build ships so they could sail off and explore the secrets of the world together. As Barele grew older, his skill and later reputation became more prevalent, expanding his clientele and building ships for merchants, the Oleon Army, and the Royal Army among others. His skills became well sought after, as he was fast, resourceful, and relatively cheap. As he still felt unappreciated at home despite the wealth he would bring back, he would also work on his own masterpiece, The Cambria, which was a ship that required a unique understanding and skillset to pilot. He had completed the hull, general structure, the masts, and parts of a few decks, but had not finished the main deck and a few decks below, when his hometown was suddenly invaded by the Royal Navy. Upon returning to investigate a distant noise he heard while working on the Cambria in a bay deep in the woods, caused by the Elistean Invasion he would return to find his family's house up in flames with a sibling's corpse laying cut outside on the ground. He would try to rescue his father, as everyone else was either missing or dead, but his father died in the attempt. He then transformed and fought off a ton of Naval soldiers and Monkey Rogues members until he was captured in seawater chains. As he struggled, he yelled out for Shahee. It wasn't long before a shockwave would kill or overwhelm most people there. He was rushed onto the ship with remaining survivors from the Royal Navy, and sailed away. As he was being sailed off west towards Bars, the naval ship was suddenly ambushed by a Rogue crew. This crew ended up finding Barele, now Baros, and the person who freed him was none other than Rhaegar, the captain of the Monkey Rogues. Baros was freed and brought along on the ship, where Rhaegar, for the time being, tasked him with being a cabin boy and sent him to the chambers. There he'd meet Ebin Arran, a former assassin who had joined the crew and also had the role of cabin girl. The two would form a near inseparable bond as they were part of the same squad and responsible for the same area of the ship. The squad would go on several missions, even laying siege to a fleet that was chasing the Flaming Rogues, Fugo's crew. On one mission, they were infiltrating an outpost near Halius. However, the mission was a bust as it was teeming with Naval soldiers waiting for them. The crew tried their best to escape, but Baros was unfortunately not lucky enough to escape. Knowing his fate, he threw Rhaegar out to the sea and fought off whoever he could. Unfortunately, he could not reach Ebin in time, and the two of them were captured and sent off to Bars.

In Bars, Baros and Ebin were celled together in the bottom floor of the prison, rotting in the darkness awaiting execution or life sentences. They spent many years down there, until one day they were both freed by Terra. Notably, Baros broke his own chains due to his sheer natural strength, later telling Terra he wouldn’t survive his way up the levels due to all the pacifite.

Following the break out, he, Ebin and Iros would join the Earthbound Rogues, where he’d finally be reunited with Shahee.

Personality

Baros is fiercely loyal and very kind. Despite his strength and hidden aggressive nature as part of his pairing, he’s always considerate of others and tries his best to serve them.

He adores tinkering though. He and Yisuu eventually form a strong bond as they work on the ship together later in their adventure, becoming the first person to truly break him from his fear of other people. He also forms a very strong bond with Iros through their shared tinkering and collaborations around the ship.

He’s also very grateful to Terra for understanding the vision he had built his masterpiece with.

When it comes to Shahee, though he remains very kind to her, he recognizes the strong bond she held onto for many years. He worries a lot that her faith in him is misguided, as she had not experienced what he had after their separation at such a young age, but has always been honest and kind to her, and is eternally grateful to her for convincing Terra to break him and Ebin out.

He sees Ebin as his sister. The two are extremely close following their adventures in the second chapter of his life, having been cabin folk, then imprisoned, and now fighters together. While Ebin is generally more stubborn, he understands her like no one else will, and he feels the same about her.

Abilities

Baros shares his body with a Zenyfian Gorilla. Historically he tried to separate his limbs like what Sucros was able to do, but struggled heavily. Despite this, him and his pair have a mutual affection for craftsmanship, and thus he was willing to relinquish his body to it for construction purposes. Since Sucros’ training, he’s been able to utilize his pair’s limbs.

However, Baros’ temperament is very difficult to control when he lets his pair take over. Zenyfian Gorillas are notoriously temperamental, notably through the evolution they had to undergo in Zenyf. However, the two continue to grow supportive of one another as they learn to coexist.
